The Asian American/Pacific Islander Resource Center (AA/PIRC) presents Asian American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month Keynote Speaker Alice Y. Hom. Dr. Hom's life experience speaks directly to the contemporary issues facing Asian American/Pacific Islander communities and this year’s Heritage Month theme: “Intersecting Identities, Interconnecting Communities.” Join us for our last event of this year's Heritage Month! 

Dr. Alice Y. Hom is the Director of the Queer Justice Fund at Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), and has over 25 years of experience with community organizing on a range of issues including the arts, education, health, and philanthropy and with AAPI, Women of Color, and LBGTQ communities. Previous to AAPIP, Dr. Hom was the founding Director of the Intercultural Community Center at Occidental College, where she worked on issues of equity, diversity, and social justice. She received her B.A. from Yale, M.A. in Asian American Studies from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in History from Claremont Graduate University. Dr. Hom co-edited the award-winning anthology, Q&A: Queer inAsian America. Additionally, in 2014, California Governor Jerry Brown appointed her to the Cal Humanities board, and she also served on the boards of the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, Visual Communications, Great Leap, June Mazer Lesbian Archives, and APAIT.
